On the evening of Thursday, May 28, the winner of the Czech national round of the most prestigious bartending competition in the world - The Diageo Reserve World Class 2015 - was decided in the premises of the Prague Buddha-Bar. Vítězslav Cirok from the recently opened Prague bar LʼFleur became the winner out of four finalists. He will now represent the Czech Republic at the world finals in Cape Town, South Africa, and will compete with the best bartenders from around the world.
It is a competition in which thousands of bartenders from more than 55 countries of the world participate. It is a highly recognized, but also very demanding competition for bartenders. After more than half a year of preparations and qualifications, 14 bartenders advanced to the two-day finals in the Czech Republic. They represented ten bars from three cities in a total of six disciplines.
The second edition of the Diageo Reserve World Class Competition in the Czech Republic started already in November last year. About five dozen bartenders from 22 bars attended several seminars and workshops over the course of seven months, and following them, they devised competition drinks that they presented via social networks and in their bars.
The first competition day was hosted by Bugsy's bar on Wednesday, May 27. The jury, which included the winners of the global finals of the Diageo Reserve World Class Competition from previous years, David Ríos from Spain and Aristotelis Papadopoulos from Greece, evaluated the bartending technique of the finalists, their creativity and, of course, the taste of the drinks presented to them in the two competition disciplines.
